{La Grande Motte} Style and Speed

Fast cruisers allow sailors to achieve greater daily mileages, so the new TS5 from niche French builder Marsaudon is worth taking a look at during the International Multihull Boat Show in La Grande Motte (France) from April 18-22.

The Marsaudon TS5 is a fairly lightweight yet fully fitted out performance cruising catamaran from this experienced yard in Lorient. The yard has recently changed ownership, Marsaudon Composites was acquired earlier this year by Damien Cailliau and Frédéric Blandin, two professionals with a strong sailing background, who have bought it from Samuel Marsaudon and his wife Marie.

“We got to a stage where we no longer felt able to further develop a company of this size; it needs very specific knowledge when it comes to management, strategy, marketing, organization and human resources, some of these things we don’t have,” said Marsaudon, who remains with the yard to continue the family interests in the 18-year-old business.

Designed by the experienced Christophe Barreau, the TS5 comes with an alloy rig, deep daggerboards for upwind performance and a fiberglass/foam built hull; an economical build that is reflected in the competitive pricing. Accommodation includes four cabins while on deck traditionalists will enjoy the tillers with bucket seats.
