The Tampa, Florida IBEX 2017 conferred its Deck Equipment & Hardware innovation award on the Light Pole™ navigation lights from Aluna Systems. Designed to eliminate failures due to corrosion, it uses patented light conduit technology.
Replacing standard contacts with light coupling, the system transmits light from a sealed LED source in the plug base to the upper end of the removable pole. The company maintains that the device “sets a new standard of reliability.”
The mounting system and footprint resemble typical removable navigation lights, but the pole itself contains no electrical components. Light Pole is compatible with both 12- and 24-volt systems. Light coupling is immune to damage from saltwater and functions even under water.
