Hercules Hydraulics has designed a heavy-duty winch solution for vessels for the renewable energy sector. The lightweight AMW350 winch has been designed primarily for diving support vessels and is suitable for three- or four-point mooring. The company explains that a four-point configuration allows the vessel to follow the diver without using its engines.
The AMW350 is of aluminum and stainless steel construction. It is designed to sustain a maximum six-ton snatch load, a working pressure of 250 bar and a rope speed of 40 RPM. It can be used with either rope or chain lines. Sellafield Diving in Whitehaven is the first customer to use the winch system aboard one its dive support vessels.
